Google Finally Launches “Real-Time” Analytics
Google finally launched much awaited “Real-Time” analytics. It started showing up in my google analytics account today and it certainly looks very promising.
- Right now: It displays actual number of visitors on the site at that moment, including number of new v/s returning visitors in a bar (with beautiful colours). Along with displaying actual number of visitors on the site at that point, it also displays pageviews per minute and per second in real time. Pageviews per minutes seems to be showing how many pages have been visited in a particular minute, in past 30 minutes. Likewise, Pageviews per second shows how many pages have been visited in a particular second in past 60 seconds.
- Top referrals: Displays number of visitors on the site at that moment, coming from the referral sites, this includes any external domain and social networking sites like facebook.com.
- Top active pages: Displays which page are being visited by the user at that moment.
- Top keywords: Displays what are the keywords used by the visitor to reach to the website.
- Top locations: Displays from which location the visitor is visiting, along with latitude and longitude details.
Though google analytics had been providing most of these data for the previous day till now, it has started providing data in Real – Time which is going to be of great help to the marketers. We strongly believe google should focus on such products, rather than wasting time on fighting with Facebook.com with Google+.
There still is so much to study on what is the best way to use the available data but at this moment the Real – Time data is looking very promising. In wake of competition or to keep improving, Facebook has come up with new set of changes. At August Infotech, we think they are really cool, though the response from the net community is mix with majority not liking those changes. 1. Top story: Facebook has start listing top stories on the top and is marked with blue corner on top left hand side. User also has facility to mark story as “top story” from the drop down on the right hand top corner of the story and that story will show up on top of the news feed for that user.
2. Friends activity: Now user can see their friends activity updates. This facility is right above the chat users list on the right hand side of the page. Though it is matter of debate if users want to see updates on what their friends are posting at particular time and this is the one feature most of the users are unhappy with. Oh yes and you can make this ticket smaller or bigger and adjust it size with the chat users list.
